Sammi B. Trujillo
BS of Family Sciences
Sammi B. Trujillo, BS of Family Sciences, considers service to others to be one of the highest callings an individual can perform. Through high school and college, Sammi acted as a service coordinator and helped organized several service events partnered with nonprofits, including Habitat for Humanity and United Way. As a newlywed and a young mother, she ended up on the other side of the service coin. Sammi and her husband have closely witnessed the injustices and struggles of racial minorities, existed under the poverty line while working hard to support a family through college, and accepted the aid of food stamps and Medicaid just to make it by. Without affordable childcare, Sammi relied on kind strangers who volunteered on campus to watch her children while she was in class. It took nearly 10 years to graduate with her Bachelor's degree, but Sammi made it, and she couldn't have done it without the help of individuals and organizations who are dedicated to service.
After graduation, Sammi was able to combine her lifelong love of writing, her knowledge of family processes, and her experience in and appreciation of service to begin a career in grant writing and consultation. Nonprofit organizations are crucial for the well-being of individuals, families and communities, and yet many nonprofits struggle to find and win the funding they need to continue providing support and service. The establishment of Blank Page Possibilities is Sammi's way to support those who support society.
